Rubicon Trip
September 14-16, 2007
This page has pictures taken during a recent run of the Rubicon Trail in California. We took two trucks (Dan and Mike Reid in the 1984 K30, and Nate Pierce and Tom in the SAS Toyota) and camped for two nights. We started the trail from the south side (Ice House Road/Loon Lake) and ended on the Tahoe side. These pictures aren't in perfect order, but we roughly camped at Buck Island Lake Friday night, and Rubicon Springs on Saturday night.
This next one is at the end of Ice House Road, crossing the dam.
This next shot is at Loon Lake Dam. We arrived nice and early (chilly!) and this picture is taken while we were airing down our tires.

This next one is of our camp site at Buck Island lake the first night.
Here's the view from the camp site!
That night, we tested out Nate's Rock lights. These were taken with a tripod, but it was pitch black out:
Here is us crossing the Rubicon River headed into Rubicon Springs.
This next one shows Nate using his half doors, with Mike snapping pictures.
Video of the K30 doing an area near the top of Old True Big Sluice
Here's a picture of me lining up to pull a Stuck Toyota through a section of upper big sluice.
This next series is of the K30 doing Big Sluice. This was the part where I got the most body damage. :)
This next obstacle was right before crossing the bridge to the Rubicon River. I broke my mirror on this one, because I BARELY fit.
Here's a picture of my brother making coffee in his tie dye and union suit at our camp site at Rubicon Springs.
The next three are from the ascent of Cadillac Hill. We were stopped for a while in "traffic" because some dude had killed his engine and rolled back off the edge of the trail. He was saved when he crashed into a tree, and we were witing while he got winched back on to the trail. After watching that, I am wearing my helmet in the thirdpicture...
These next two are of Nate and I at Observation Point.
